How long have you been involved in the racing industry and how did you get your start?

My dad raced when I was young and my whole family would go to cheer him on, but it wasn't until 2007 when he bought his own race car that I started to gain a real interest in the sport. I was 16 and working as his crew chief while learning all about the world of racing. I did my first track day in 2010 with my dad as my instructor and the following year I attended the SCCA Race School, received my racing license, and off I went! We love when a passion for racing started by spending quality family time at the track!

What car do you race and what events in the NW or USA do you participate in?

My dad and I share our green Mazda Spec Miata and race primarily with Oregon Region SCCA, which includes events at Portland International Raceway, The Ridge Motorsports Park, and Pacific Raceways. I also do some instructing with Cascade Sports Car Club and volunteer at various events throughout the year!

What tip would you give someone who is thinking about or has recently started racing?

I would say the number one thing is to have fun and keep a positive attitude. Your mindset will effect everything both on and off the track, so stay focused and make sure that at the end of the day you leave with a smile on your face!

What is your most memorable track day and why?

All of them! Haha...But if I had to pick just one I would say last September at the SCCA Triple Regional Races at PIR. That weekend I not only achieved some goals I had set for the year, but I also won one of my races and got to give my dad a victory lap! He has done so much for me, so it really meant a lot to both of us. AWESOME!

What is your advantage behind the wheel? What gives you an edge above the competition?

I think my advantage is that I stay calm inside the car. I don't get worked up and I keep pursuing no matter what happened previously in the race. I am also very smooth with my inputs and aware of everything around me.

What are your 3 MUST HAVE's as far as racing products?

I have to say, I love my Sparco racing suit, it fits me so well, especially considering it's a men's suit! My other must haves are a HANS device--I won't go on track without one! I also like my Molecule wash/spray to keep all of my gear looking and smelling fresh! No one wants to be the stinky kid...good call Dani ;)
